Waiting out the rain...Bob is inside eating ice cream!

Exhausted...drove all day in rain!

This morning we were on the road at 8 a.m. with the hope of putting in a lot of miles.  At our first gas stop we met grandpa and grandson at the pumps.  We said our cordials and both Bob and grandpa/grandson walked into the station to pay for the gas at the same time.  The cashier, missing two fingers and a tooth, was happy to take Bob's money while the 7 year old grandson told Bob he had an ugly hawaiian shirt on.  Back at the gas pump grandpa said you probably haven't heard this one "A guy comes into the doctor's shaking.  The doctor said "you're probably here because you drink too much" the patient says "no, I'm here because I spill too much!"  We continued our travels in Ky.

With the sun on our backs, 72 degrees with no traffic, it was a beautiful ride until noon.  We saw a line of thunderstorms on the horizon.  We tickled with it until the first drops where we pulled over to a DQ in Louisville where we stopped for emergency ice cream.  We waited an hour for the line to pass and started up again with wet bike seats.  Another 20 minutes brought in another line of thunderstorms and a torential downpour ensued.  Now with the rain drops on the front of the windshield, on the back of the windshield, on the front of our sunglasses, on the back of our sunglasses it was time to get off the road.  We found a Comfort Inn in Corydon, IN and what a find it was.  Not only was it warm and dry for us, it was warm and dry for all our clothes we had to re-wash!
